The fundamentals

The objective is to become the most effective player you can be. Developing quality fundamental skills is paramount to success!

Our sessions will focus on the skills applicable to all positions, rather then position specific skills. The reason for this is that young players often change positions once they reach adult rugby, so the best use of your practice hours should be spent honing the skills which will be needed to make you an outstanding player whichever position you end up in!

The skill performed most in the game is catching and passing, followed by tackling, then rucking, so, in order to be the most effective player you can be, having the greatest impact on the game, it makes sense to practice these skills the most.

Every NLR session will afford you the opportunity to develop your fundamental skills and help you to become a player which the coach just can’t leave out of the team!

NLR Coaches will break down each skill into a process. When a player better understands the process of a skill, not only, will this help when executing that skill, but also, they can trouble shoot and feedback to the coach which part of the process was good/missing or could be done better!
